Lab Mission Statement:
The Wang Lab investigates the molecular logic underlying cell identity and plasticity, with a focus on the epigenetic, transcriptional, and RNA-based mechanisms that govern totipotency, pluripotency, germ cell development, and reprogramming. By dissecting how stem cell factors, histone variants, RNA modifications, and chromatin architecture interact with the genetic and epigenetic machinery, we aim to uncover how stem cells acquire, maintain, and redefine their fates during early development and disease progression. Through integrative approaches spanning proteomics, genomics, cell engineering, and disease modeling, our long-term goal is to translate fundamental insights into novel strategies for regenerative medicine, cancer therapeutics, and infertility treatment.
Our previous and ongoing research projects encompass the following four major areas
We study in vivo functions of stem cell factors in early development
We study primordial germ cell development and spermatogenesis
We study leukemia, breast cancer, and male infertility
We study the genetic and epigenetic control of cell fates
